Katherine Gosnell is a visual artist who explores the relationship between person and place, from the present environment to its metaphysical reality. Her work is characterized by representational human figures in abstracted landscapes that feature plant imagery, star motifs, and vivid bands of color, with themes on new creation, longing, or childlike wonder.
Over the past several years, Gosnell has been involved in creative projects that bridge the local Christian church with the surrounding urban neighborhood. Often these are collaborative outdoor murals that Gosnell designs and paints with volunteers. These experiences embody the exploration of person and place, bringing the viewer to think about one’s presence and impact in the local community.
