This project started with a conversation with Raffini, who directed youth programs at the Southside Community Land Trust. The youth gardeners had just completed a beautification project at St. Martin de Porres Center in Providence, RI, and Raffini imagined how meaningful it would be to add painted panels featuring tropical plants familiar to residents from their home countries. Artists Colleen Quint and Viktoria King from the Renaissance Church artists’ group and the church youth group collaborated with me to make the vision a reality.
